for Elderly

Elderly with depression or acute confusion may not cooperate with medical treatments, especially pulling the implantation of important medical equipment such as oxygenation lines or feeding hoses. This can cause medical complications in their treatment plan, making the medical treatment ineffective and the elderly will not recover, which in turn continues the cycle of illnesses. Unintentionally removing the equipment also runs the risk of infection and irritation from multiple implantations of medical devices. Nurses or those involved often need to restrain patients to bed, which naturally leading to further stress.

Pulling-prevention Device for Elderly is a care product developed based on the concept of distraction. This innovative glove was designed to divert attention away from implanted medical devices. A rubber ball and rubber pad are inserted inside the glove to stimulate palm sensory and encourage the exercise of finger and hand muscles. This device was designed and developed by Associate Professor Singh Intrachooto, Ph.D. at Kasetsart University with nurses, physical therapists and occupational therapists and product designers.

ulling-prevention Device for Elderly has two design collections: pet collection (dog and cat) and marine life collection (whale, octopus, and sea star). They are made from 100% stretch-cotton, with a loop-like structure looped together continuously, making it flexible, comfortable, supportive and dispersing weight well. Tailored design includes hidden seams to prevent cuts and selecting fabric for added breathability to increase users’ comfort.
